Junchan Lee is postdoc involved in GNSS lab and nano-satellite research lab in York University since December, 2017. He has been working with the nano-satellite group since then. He completed his Ph.D course in Physics at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) in Korea with the dissertation title of “Development of ionosphere plasma diagnostics and their applications” which describe three kinds of plasma diagnosis installed on the Korea microsatellite with named of NEXTSat-1 in order to measure the ionospheric plasma properties such as electron density, ion temperature and composition etc.
He is doing research on GNSS Reflectometry which is a measurement method by using reflected electromagnetic signals transmitted from GNSS satellite off surface of the Earth. His idea will be demonstrated as GNSS Reflectometry receiver for nano-satellites, and as a preliminary study, he is deriving soil moisture model by using CYGNSS data which is a constellation of 8 satellites that was launched in 2017 to forecast hurricanes. In his free time, he likes to play games especially pro evolution soccer series and tennis.
