Interns

Sogand Talebi

Sogand is a graduate from IB program from St. Robert Catholic High School. She is currently studying Space Engineering and is going to start her final year this year. She is working as a summer intern at the GNSS lab in 2019.

Her primary objective is to develop and improve the existing FPGA software, used in York developed GNSS-R receiver, to record the raw satellite signals from the antennas. She is also involved in designing an enclosure for the GNSS-R receiver, to make the system mobile, and weather proof to enable effortless data collection to study soil moisture remotely.

Besides this she has participated and volunteers with FIRST Robotics.    She is passionate about yoga, tennis and playing the piano. She can be contacted on:

Camilla Castaldo

Camilla Castaldo graduated from St Joseph Morrow Park High School, before joining Geomatics Engineering in York University. She is currently in her final year of undergraduate studies. She is working as a summer intern at the GNSS lab in 2019.

Her  research project involves understanding, debugging and  expanding an existing software. In this software, satellite orbits, satellite-receiver line-of-sight and Dilution of Precisions for a single position and a period of time are computed and displayed on a global map for GPS and GLONASS orbits. The purpose of her project is to include Galileo and BeiDou satellite constellations into the software.

Besides theis Camilla, is a trained ballet dancer and practices boxing, yoga and spinning. She also volunteers at a group who  are committed to cleaning up litter around the city . She is also interested in s fashion and interior design.

Ivan Mishev

Ivan graduated from Wexford C.I. and came back to York University as a mature student to get my Bachelor's degree after spending a number of years in the work force. He is currently studying at York University in the Earth and Atmospheric Science program. He will be graduating in 2021 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree.

During summer 2019, he is working under Professor Sunil Bisnath in York's GNSS lab as a recipient of the Lassonde Undergraduate Research Award. He is using a GNSS Signal Simulator to simulate output files for use with York's PPP algorithm. The aim is to further understand how different conditions effect the PPP engine by applying certain known error sources to the simulations. This will allow us to better model  errors to improve the PPP positioning solution accuracy.

He is an avid rock climber and aspiring mountaineer who loves to be outdoors in nature as much as possible. He spends his weekends either camping or climbing. He enjoys playing soccer.
